In just seven (7) days, the Member of Parliament for Bekwai has turned policy talk into visible action, rolling out a series of donations and interventions across the constituency.

The push is part of his broader vision of building a self-sufficient Bekwai — one where schools, roads, markets, and young people are equipped to thrive without waiting.

From education to infrastructure to direct student support, the MP’s office was on the move all week, and constituents have taken notice.

The Interventions for the Week included:

  1. Early Childhood Education Gets a Boost
The Roman Catholic KG in Bekwai received GHS 5,000 to support ongoing renovation works. The donation is aimed at giving the youngest learners a safer and more conducive environment to start their education.
  2. Making Rural Roads Motorable
To address a major headache during the rains, the MP released GHS 15,000 worth of gravels, plus payment for fuel and lease of machines to spread and compact them. The materials have been used to improve accessibility on the Kensere-Biribiwomanmu-Pampaso road, ensuring farmers and residents can move even when it pours.
  3. Support for Teacher Accommodation
At Amanhyia, financial support was provided to help complete and hand over the Teachers’ Quarters. The goal is to attract and retain teachers by giving them decent housing close to their schools.
  4. Market Infrastructure for Traders
Traders at Sarfokrom got a lift with support for the construction of a new market shed. The project is expected to provide shelter and create a more organized trading space for local businesses.
  5. Backing Bright Minds on Educational Trips
The MP supported Kortwia M.A. Bediako with packs of drinks, biscuits, water and cash towards an educational trip, helping students get practical, out-of-classroom learning experiences.
  6. Roofing Support for Schools
10 packets of roofing sheets were presented to the Behenase cluster of schools. The materials will help fix dilapidated roofs and keep classrooms dry during the rainy season.
  7. Tertiary Students Not Left Behind
Six brilliant but needy tertiary students received support of GHS 18,000 to pay their school fees. For many families, the intervention means the difference between dropping out and graduating.
  8. Early Learning Resources
Plastic chairs were presented to Kwamang/Abesewa M/A Basic school KG to improve seating and comfort for pupils in the kindergarten.
  9. Streetlights for Community Safety
The Amoaful community received streetlights to improve visibility at night for drivers and pedestrians. The intervention is also expected to enhance security and protect community members from attacks.

What It Means for Bekwai

Taken together, the interventions cut across the MP’s core pillars: education, infrastructure, livelihoods, and security. The focus on KG schools, teacher housing, and needy students shows a long-term bet on human capital.

The road and market investments speak directly to economic self-reliance — getting goods to market and keeping communities connected.

The streetlights for Amoaful further demonstrate a commitment to safer communities after dark.

Constituents in the areas visited described the week as “one of the most active we’ve seen,” with many noting that the support arrived exactly where it was needed.

With this pace, the MP’s stated goal of a self-sufficient constituency is beginning to look less like a slogan and more like a weekly work plan.
