The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has paid a surprise working visit to the Madina Polyclinic to enforce directives aimed at strengthening professionalism, patient safety and security across health facilities in the country.
The visit, which followed the commissioning of a container-based health post at the Madina Market, saw the Minister inspect various departments of the facility to assess compliance with key directives issued by the Ministry of Health.

Addressing health workers during the visit, Hon. Akandoh stressed the importance of all health professionals wearing name tags while on duty, noting that the directive is critical in identifying authorised staff within health facilities.
According to him, the measure has become necessary following reported incidents where individuals disguised as health professionals allegedly entered facilities to steal items and even abduct babies.
The Minister also inspected the facility’s CCTV surveillance system and directed management to ensure the cameras remain operational at all times. He further instructed that the monitoring centre must be manned 24 hours a day to enable early detection and prevention of security threats within the facility.
Hon. Akandoh further urged health workers to improve their relationship with patients, citing increasing public concerns about poor staff attitude and service delivery in some health facilities.
As part of efforts to support healthcare delivery at the facility, the Minister directed the immediate provision of essential items, including beds and other logistics, under the government’s free primary healthcare initiative to help improve operations at the polyclinic.
