President of Online Publishers Association of Ghana (OPAG), Michael Petit Mawugbe has admonished all online Practitioners to prioritize the use of AI to solve real problems instead of misinformation and disinformation.
This was contained in a statement issued to the media on Wednesday through his Facebook wall.
Below is what he wrote:
Artificial Intelligence is the most powerful problem-solving tool humans have ever built. In the same breath, it is the most powerful misinformation machine humans have ever built.

Which one it becomes depends entirely on how we choose to use it.
For the last 20 years, the internet rewarded attention. AI rewards intention.
If you ask AI to get you clicks, it will invent a sensational lie in half a second. If you ask AI to get you clarity, it will analyze 10,000 documents and give you a solution in the same half second. The technology is neutral. The prompt is moral.
It is therefore imperative to move from AI for engagement to AI for resolution. It is the only way misinformation and disinformation which have become an albatross in the online ecosystem can be curtailed.
No day passes without the online space recording misinformation or disinformation publications . All these things are happening because of our inability to leverage on the AI to respond to urgent needs such as problem resolution.
It is sad that everyone is talking about AI but few are actually using it to solve problems that matter.
The difference isn’t which tool you use. It’s how you approach problems with AI as a thought partner. As a Journalist with online centered goal , I can tell you that leveraging on AI gives one a good results.
I always advice people against Asking “What Can AI Do?” Start Asking “What Problem Is Slowing Me Down?”
With this question in mind , you would always be ahead of competition owing to the unique approach you adopt in ‘playing’ with AI.
Remember Creating Content is not enough but leveraging on AI to solve real problems makes you the real McCoy.
