PRESS RELEASE
RE: AWULAE BLAY HAS NO MANDATE: EASTERN NZEMA REJECTS UNAUTHORIZED SUPPORT FOR REVOCATION OF ADAMUS’ MINING LEASES.
It has come to our attention that a purported press statement has been issued by one Awulae Blay IX, in which he claims to speak as Omanhene of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Area and to express support for the revocation of the mining licence of Adamus Resources Limited.
For the avoidance of doubt, it is necessary to state, that the said Awulae Blay IX is not the Omanhene of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Area. He lacks the legal recognition and institutional authority to speak for, or on behalf of, the Traditional Area in any capacity whatsoever.
For the record, the recognized and legitimate Omanhene of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Area is Awulae Amihere Kpanyile, who continues to serve as the President of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Council. His authority remains intact and unaffected by the claims and conduct of the said Awulae Blay.
It is therefore misleading for Awulae Blay to purport to speak on matters affecting the Eastern Nzema Traditional Area or to project his personal views as carrying traditional endorsement. He has no such mandate.
Indeed, it is a matter of record that his purported status remains the subject of dispute before the appropriate traditional bodies, including proceedings before the Western Regional House of Chiefs.
Consequently, his expressed support for the revocation in question must be understood as a personal position advanced without authority and one which appears to be aligned with certain political interests. It cannot therefore be presented as the voice of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Area.
On the contrary, it must be placed on record that I, Nana Kwamena Bentum II, Divisional Chief of Salman, is firmly and unequivocally opposed to the said revocation of the mining leases of Adamus Resources Limited. My position reflects the concerns of affected stakeholders within the area and stands in direct contrast to the unsupported assertions being put forward by the said Awulae Blay.
We therefore urge the public, stakeholders, and all well-meaning persons to disregard entirely the purported statement issued by Awulae Blay IX. It has no representational value, and does not reflect the position of the recognized traditional leadership of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Area.
Signed
Nana Kwamena Bentum II
(Divisonal Chief of Salma)
