Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hon.Ahmed Inrahim has disclosed that plans are underway to convert the Institute of Local Government Studies into a fully fledged University.

The Banda Member of Parliament made the disclosure in Accra whilst inaugurating the governing boards for the Institute of Local Government Studies and Land Use and Spatial Authority (LUSPA).

“Plans are far advanced Upgrade ILGS into a full University dedicated to providing leadership”, the Minister emphasized.

He added that this forms part of President Mahama’s resetting agenda.

Touching on the boards, Hon. Ibrahim admonished them to work and make a difference in their respective institutions as that forms the basis for which they were appointed.

“Your appointment is a call to duty and the trust reposed in you to oversee these institutions can not be over emphasized”, he stressed.

He advised the boards to take a keen interest in flooding in Accra and land usage to ensure effective planning and safety of the citizenry.

Later, Chairmen for Institute of Local Govt Council and LUSPA Dr. William Kofi Ahadzi and Mr. Jonathan Kwesi Azazu respectively expressed their commitment to live up to expectation.
