Vice President, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has expressed government’s commitment to invest in education to benefit every child regardless of their background.

She said children of school going age represent the future of the country hence the need to create that enabling environment for them.

The Vice President made the statement at a ceremony to awards the 2025 B.ECE Achievers on Wednesday, as part of Independence celebration dubbed:” President’s Independence Awards”.

“As a nation our duty is to ensure that every child no matter their background has the chance to learn grow and succeed”, the Vice President emphasized.

The Vice President later assured of government’s commitment to ensuring inclusive education at all levels.

She described the awards as deserving and Commended the 52 students for their outstanding performance.

“Your discipline and perseverance has brought prestige to your homes and schools” Prof Agyemang said.

The Vice President later expressed worry over the growing violence within senior High Schools, coupled examination malpractices, describing it as a Troubling development.

She said indiscipline undermine national progress and sends wrong signals about the Ghana we want maintaining that personal conduct has a national repercussion.

Against the growing concern of indiscipline in schools , the Vice President called for review of existing school disciplinary codes to address misconduct and vandalism that has witnessed in recent days in schools.

“Excellence is not about how best you do in class but how best you behave when no one is watching you.
Ghana is counting on you not to excel academically but to be disciplined as well”, the Vice President advised the young Achievers.

She later Commended the schools, teachers, the sector ministry, Ghana Education service and Nestlé Ghana for supporting the Awards for about 30years.

On his part, the Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak commended the students for their exceptional achievement.

He attributed their feat to government’s commitment to maintain standards and ensure quality basic education.

This awards is Inspire them to achieve more than they have achieved. Our basic education continues to produce excellence. This reinforces our commitment to maintain standards and quality at the basic level”, the Deputy Education Minister stressed.

Dr. Apaak later commended the teachers for their hard work, resulting in the performance of the students.

“Your pedagogical leadership and classroom engagement has been the backbone of this successes”, he averred.

The 52 young Achievers including 2 visually and 2 hearing impaired, from both public and private schools, drawn from the 16 regions would be given lunch treat together with their parents and teachers later today.
