Minister of Health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has assured Ghanaians government is taking necessary steps to protect the citizenry even though the Ebola risk is Low in Ghana.
In a national broadcast on Thursday May 22, 2026, the Health Minister cautioned the public to practice good hand hygiene by washing hands with soap under running water whilst same should be done during mass gathering.

Below is his statement
Dear Country men and women, this week the Ministry of Health over the past one week, has issued two publications on Ebola.
Last week WHO declared Ebola as Public Health Emergency of International Concern
Ebola Is a viral disease spread through direct contact with blood body fluid secretions and contaminated surfaces of all Materials
People experiencing symptoms such as sudden fever, headache muscle pain vomiting diarrhea and Unexplained feeling should immediately report to the nearest health facility.
It is important to note that No Cases have been recorded in West Africa including Ghana however it is said that prevention is better than cure
In that spirit the following precautions must be adhered to.
1.Practice good hand hygiene
2.During Mass Gathering, practice good hand hygiene Event Organizers must provide hand washing Stations and Hand Sanitizers
