The Founder and Leader of the Gentiles Revival Ministry International, Apostle Abram Owusu Amoah has revealed that using the Bible to swear and make nuptial vow bring curses upon the people involved as God abhors it.

Using Scriptures, Mathew 5:34-35, Zachariah 5:1-4 and James 5-12 to back his claim the man of God emphasized that swearing is a mockery or insult to God which brings about curses and that God said in the aforementioned scriptures that “thy shall not swear at all”.

Apostle Owusu Amoah disclosed this in an interview on Sunday (February 22, 2026) following a major press conference on the theme “ Jesus of Nazareth the Messiah Campaign: The Untold Truth about the Curses of Swearing and Oath”.

He explained further that only God swore by himself when he promised Abraham that he will bless him for keeping faith with him.

He added that God gave that same authority to Israel and told them they should use his name when dealing with their fellow people and make sure they keep any vow they make and not swear to gods.

“Unfortunately they disobeyed God. And because the people of Israel profaning of God by swearing falsely, He banned and pronounced Curses on Swearers”, the Founder and leader of Gentiles Revival Ministry reiterated.

He emphasized that swearing of oaths during ordination of Priests, Ministers, MPs, Presidents, Judges, marriages are all in sharp contrast with the position of the scriptures as captured in James 5:12 which states “But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither the earth, neither by any nether oath: but let your yea be yea; nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation”.

“So I don’t understand why a man of God will stand in front of the altar and then swear. Who is he swearing to because Jesus said swearing is a curse so he will never accept anybody swearing to him.

And also because it’s a curse any man of God who swears pronounces curses upon himself. So if the same person is blessing his congregation, how can some one who is cursed bless his congregation”, Apostle Owusu Amoah queried.

He further noted that these are the reasons why some Pastors proclaim on their Congregants “your life will never be the same” yet the Congregants go through one trouble after the other maintaining that these are signs of curses.

He explained further that Christians are made to understand that by swearing on the Bible they make a promise to God that they will tell the truth and that, it’s a sign of respect to God which he said it’s contrary to the scriptures.

“To think that swearing is a mockery or an insult to God, the name of God is profaned when it is used to cover up evil.

“In most cases at Courts offenders swear by the Bible to defend themselves instead of confessing their crimes.
Likewise in marriages, when men have other women in their lives whilst taking their wedding vows or oaths: or cheating on each other afterwards.

Many government officials are sworn into high office promising integrity but end up in corruption” he denounced.

He said many calamities and disasters have befallen countries including Ghana owing to the swearing stressing that the disasters such as road accidents, plane crash, flooding are the results of curses emanating from swearing.

Apostle Abram Owusu Amoah therefore urged men of God, Ministers. MPs and all who engage in swearing to repent and desist from it to save the country from further curses stressing that “ this is a message from God; it’s not my message”.
