Chief of Salma Nana Bentum II has appealed to Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Armah Kofi Buah to restore the license of Adamus Resources Limited given the contributions of company towards the development of the community.
Nana Bentum who was speaking to Senaradioonline.com in an interview said all allegations against Adamus over illegal mining were unfounded, intended to create disaffection for the internationally acclaimed mining company.
On Friday, the committee which was formed by the Lands Minister to review the revocation of Adamus Reources and present report within two weeks finally presented its report after two months since the formation of the Committee.
It against this background that Nana Bentum is urging the Lands Minister to reinstate the license of the company.
He argued that Adamus has contributed immensely to the socio-economic economic development of the community including job creation and infrastructural development.
As a Chief of Salman where Adamus operates, it will be disingenuous on my party to sit unconcerned as this injustice is meted against a company that has given its all to the community.
I don’t Know what the Report recommended but the Minister must restore the license”, the Vocal Salman Chief fumed.
Nana Bentum later drew the attention of Minister on the ramifications of the action stating that issues of galamsey would worsen in the area should the status quo remains the same and license not restored.
It would be recalled that the the decision of the Lands Ministry to revoke Adamus’ license drew widespread condemnation and criticism from industry players, Experts and Community leaders including chiefs.
It is therefore the expectation of many that the Lands Ministry will restore the license of Adamus to create an enabling environment within the Salman Community where job opportunities and development remains secured and sustained.
