Vice President Launches Cedi@60; Urges Ghanaians to Transact Business in Cedis

Vice President Prof. Naana Jana Opoku Agyemang has admonished Ghanaans to eschew the transaction of business in business currency but in cedis.

She said the cedi is now the best performing currency in the Sub-Saharan Africa, hence the need to transact business in no other currency than the cedi.

The Vice President gave the advice when she launched the cedi@60 in Accra on Tuesday under the theme”cedi@60: A Symbol of Sovereignty, Stability and Economic resilience”.

“The Cedi has not only Recovered from Over Borrowing it has Soared”, she emphasized.

She advised governments against reckless borrowing but maintain confidence on the cedi by ensuring fiscal discipline and sound policies.

The Vice President commended the Bank of Ghana for this feat and urged them to protect the cedi through education in schools and Media campaigns.
