Gov’t Releases Over Ghc150Million LEAP Grant for Disbursement-Gender Minister

Government through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) will commence the nationwide payment of the bi-monthly cash grant for the 97th LEAP payment cycle on Monday 4th August, 2025 to Three Hundred and fifty Thousand, Five Hundred and eighty (350,580) beneficiary households.

This follows the release of One Hundred and Fifty Million, One Hundred and Sixty-Two Thousand, Four Hundred and Thirty-Four Ghana Cedis (GH₵150,162,434.00 by government to be disbursed.

Announcing this at a news conference in Accra on Monday, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey disclosed that this figure translates into One Million, five hundred and fifty-five thousand, six hundred and seventy-seven individuals (1,555,677) adding that this payment (97th payment cycle) covers May and June, 2025.

“As you may be aware, during the immediate past 96th payment cycle in June, 2025, the Ministry commenced the implementation of the indexation of the LEAP grant against inflation, resulting in a 25% increase in the cash grant for each beneficiary household. However, the top-up amount could not be paid to the beneficiary households. As a result, the payment of this 97th cycle includes the top-up arrears”, the Minister emphasized.

She explained further that the LEAP programme under the minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, provides a bi-monthly cash transfers to extremely poor and vulnerable households across the country.

These households she said includes the elderly poor, persons with severe disabilities without productive capacities, and orphans and vulnerable children.

Dr. Lartey later expressed her commitment to do the disbursement in accordance with the vision of the President.

“With each payment cycle, we reaffirm our resolve that no Ghanaian is left behind-particularly those most in need. The 97th LEAP payment cycle, like all those before it, is not just about distribution of cash. It is a symbol of our commitment to restoring dignity, protecting livelihoods, and offering hope to the poorest and most vulnerable in our society”, the Krowor Member of Parliament maintained.
