The Acting Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Lawyer Edudzi Kudzo Tamekloe has fired a salvo at Godfred Yeboah Dame former Attorney General under erstwhile Akufo Addo Government over his recent comments.
Dame had called for good men in Ghana to stand for what is right in reference to Suspended Chief Justice Torkornoo’s case.
The Former Attorney General whom Thaddeus Sory described as incongruous said in an interview on Joy News that he is committed to defending the Judiciary adding that his stance has defined his career from the start.
He stressed that it’s time for good men to speak out indicating that he always stood up against attacks on the judiciary.
He insisted that misleading the public must be corrected arguing that his actions align with his principles since becoming Attorney General.
He explained that his focus is not on Justice Torkonoo but on defending the judiciary insisting that there is calculated effort by the NDC government to undermine it.
But the NPA boss who is also the Director of Legal of the NDC, Edudzi Tamekloe has pooh-poohed on Dame’s comments warning him that if good men rise, he [Dame ] could lose his law license.
“If good men rise, you will lose your license”, the firebrand Tamekloe fired.
Mr. Tamekloe’s response to Dame is in respect of multiple allegations of professional misconduct brought against Dame by a private citizen, Daniel Kwame Ofosu-Appiah who petitioned the General Legal Council (GLC).
The petition is in relation to Dame’s conduct in the Republic v. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson case where Dame was heard on tape cajoling Richard Jakpa to give false evidence.
In the tape, Dame was heard telling Jakpa to skip court and lie against Ato Forson.
But in NPA Boss’ view, Dame should confess and seek forgiveness from a Priest since if men rise he (Dame) will lose his license.
