Technical Advisor to the Finance Ministry, Dr. Theo Acheampong has taken a strong stand against the ongoing security Service recruitment process.
In a write up on his Facebook wall the Technical Advisor described the payment of forms for the recruitment as illegal and advised the Interior Ministry to refund the monies to the disgruntled Applicants.
Below is his write up
“No citizen should have to pay money to pick and or fill a form to apply for a government job including into the Security Agencies. It should be ILLEGAL. These state bodies are funded by the very same taxpayers.
What the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651) says about fees:
- Private Agencies: Section 7 allows licensed private agencies to charge fees for their services, but with strict protections.
- Refund Policy: If a private agency fails to secure you a job within three months, they are legally required to refund 50% of the fees you paid.
- Public Recruitment: There is no provision in the Labour Act that authorizes government departments to charge citizens for job applications”
