PNC WOMEN’S WING CONDEMNS HON. AFENYO-MARKIN’S INSULTING REMARKS AGAINST NANA YAA JANTUAH
The Women’s Wing of the People’s National Convention [PNC], led by Madam Esther Osei Danso, PNC National Women’s Organizer, strongly condemns the disrespectful comments made by Minority Leader Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin about Nana Yaa Akyempim Jantuah, a Presidential Staffer.

PNC National Womens’ Organizer Madam Esther Osei Danso
On Wednesday, August 6, 2026, during the NPP’s petition to President John Dramani Mahama, Hon. Afenyo-Markin and other NPP officials described Nana Yaa Jantuah as a “third-tier presidential staffer” and suggested it was wrong for her to receive their petition.
We find these comments very disrespectful and unacceptable.
Why we are speaking out:
- Every public servant deserves respect
Nana Yaa Jantuah serves Ghana and the President. The work she does is important, no matter her title or “rank.” To insult her because of her position is wrong and shows no respect for public service. - It is an attack on women in leadership
This is not the first time women who speak up or serve in government are being insulted. We will not sit down and watch women being belittled just because they are doing their job. - It takes attention away from real issues
The petition was about the judiciary. Instead of talking about the issues, the Minority Leader chose to attack a woman. That is not leadership.
We therefore demand that:
- Hon. Afenyo-Markin withdraws his comments and apologizes to Nana Yaa Jantuah.
- Politicians stop using insulting language against women and public servants.
- All political leaders focus on issues and respect the dignity of every Ghanaian.
As women, we stand firmly with Nana Yaa Jantuah. We will continue to speak against any attempt to disrespect women in politics and public service.
Signed,
Madam Esther Osei Danso
PNC National Women’s Organizer
