The government has called on boards of state-owned entities to uphold high standards of corporate governance as part of efforts to reform and strengthen public enterprises.

This call aligns with the upcoming second edition of the Boardroom Governance Summit, scheduled to take place on October 14 this year.
Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, speaking to board members on Wednesday, July 16, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to holding SOE boards accountable while promoting efficiency and responsibility in public enterprises.
When you get too used to what you are doing, you need someone to prompt you, because if you tend to do one thing over and over again, you tend to relax. We are so excited that the Boardroom Governance Summit is coming up, whereby people are going to discuss, strategise, and see how best to run our institutions,” he said.

Mr. Debrah also stressed the need for board members to recognise their responsibilities beyond the prestige of their appointments.
“Making people understand that if you are made a member of a board, it is not just the prestige of being there, but see yourself as originators of the success of the institution,” he added.
