A persistent effort appears to be underway within the president’s family to oust the Minister of Energy, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh.

The recent resignation of Mr. Alan Kyerematen, the former Trade and Industry Minister, from the presidential primary race after August 26, 2023 super delegates conference to focus on his campaign as an independent candidate for the 2024 general elections has caused turmoil within the party.

Reliable sources suggest that a few influential figures within the ruling New Patriotic Party, who are reported to be President’s relatives, are pushing for the removal of a cabinet Minister. Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, known as NAPO.

Dr. Prempeh is believed to be on the list of ministers to be reshuffled in the eagerly anticipated reshuffle, as reported by The Statesman newspaper, a paper owned by the Presidents cousin, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko.

It is believed that some Ministers have been challenging and allegedly, obstructing business dealings involving the President’s family members.

This has led to the plot to have Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh removed in the upcoming reshuffle.

It is expected that the same reshuffle will see some deputy ministers promoted to full ministerial position .
