Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister of Health, has officially opened a two -day retreat for the management of the Ministry of Health and its agencies, aimed at enhancing collaboration, strategic planning, and service delivery across the sector.
Speaking at the opening, Hon. Akandoh described the retreat as an “important platform for collective reflection, strategic coordination, and alignment” as the ministry reviews past performance and charts the way forward.
Reflecting on 2025, the Minister noted it was a year of both opportunities and challenges, marked by high public expectations and increased demands on health systems. He emphasized the need for adaptive leadership to respond effectively to evolving health sector demands.
“This retreat is not just an interactive exercise, but a learning and strategic partnership forum,” he said. “It allows us to take an honest performance assessment, identify gaps, and address systemic constraints to improve planning and implementation this year.”
Minister Akandoh urged participants to engage constructively and candidly, using the retreat to strengthen collaboration, promote interaction, and develop practical strategies that enhance efficiency and service delivery across the ministry and its agencies.
He also expressed appreciation to members of the Ministerial Advisory Board, heads of agencies, and management staff for their dedication and leadership, expressing confidence that the retreat will yield meaningful insights and actionable recommendations to strengthen Ghana’s health sector.
