We Will Make Sure We Nurture the Trees We Plant to Grow- Deputy Lands Minister

Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Suleman Yussif has assured the public of the Ministry’s commitment to ensure that the trees planted are nurtured to grow.

He argued that the nurturing of the tree is as important as the planting itself, hence the Ministry’s resolve to follow through after planting.

The Deputy Minister made the statement at a Commemorative Tree Planting ceremony in Accra on Friday umder the Tree for Life Restoration Initiative.

“If you plant a tree you are planting a symbol of national solidarity
Once we plant we will ensure that we follow it through to grow”, Hon Yussif emphasized.

The Bole Banboi Member of Parliament further noted that today’s ceremony marks a significant milestone to restore degraded environment and raise awareness about tree planting and environmental conservation.

He said it is the commitment of the Ministry to enhance biodiversity and restore polluted water bodies to their original state.

He also revealed that he has formed Tree for Life Club in schools within his constituency to imbibe the habit of tree planting into the students.

Hon Yussif said about 200 volunteers have joined indicating the willingness of the people in the tree planting initiative.

The Deputy Minister, who revealed that about 30 million trees would be planted as part of the initiative, appealed to the Diplomatic Corps to support Ghana’s efforts to restore the degraded lands and polluted water bodies

The Chairman of the Forestry Commission Board Martin Oteng Ababio and Dean of Diplomatic Corps and Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana H.EMaher Kheir called for the sustainability of the initiative to help promote biodiversity and protection of the environment.
