Assembly Members of Ellembelle have dissociated themselves from the supposed petition issued in their name against Adamus.
One Assembly member Yacoub Aziz Salman on Tuesday issued a statement on behalf of the Ellembelle Assembly petitioning the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources over the operations of Adamus Resources Limited.
But the Assembly Members, in a strongly worded counter-statement, have condemned the actions of their member insisting that “we are not aware of any such petition against Adamus”.

REJOINDER TO FALSE PUBLICATION
Re: Alleged Assembly Members’ Appeal to Lands Minister Over Adamus Mining Dispute.
Our attention has been drawn to a publication circulating in sections of the media alleging that Hon. Assembly members have petitioned the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources over a supposed dispute involving Adamus Resources Limited.
We wish to categorically state that this publication is false, misleading, and without any basis in fact. The Assembly Members were not aware of any such petition, neither have they engaged in any discussions or actions relating to the alleged dispute.
We urge the general public to disregard this misinformation and treat it with the contempt it deserves. Such false reports have the potential to create unnecessary tension and misinform the public.
We further call on the media and individuals responsible for sharing this information to verify their facts before publication and uphold professionalism in their work. Such unfounded publications which at best are the figment of the journalist only indicts the Sector Minister, given that this happens to be his constituency.
- Assembly Members Not Aware
The Assembly Members have no knowledge of any such petition or engagement with the Minister regarding the alleged matter. At no point have we collectively or individually initiated such action. - No Existing Dispute
Contrary to the claims made, there is no ongoing dispute between the communities and Adamus Resources Limited that warrants escalation to the Minister. - Misrepresentation of Facts
The said report appears to be a
Misrepresentation and distortion of facts, which has the potential to create unnecessary tension and panic within otherwise peaceful communities. - Caution to the Public
We urge the general public and media houses to verify information before publication and avoid spreading unsubstantiated claims that may undermine peace and stability. - Conclusion
We reaffirm that:
- There is no petition by Assembly Members.
- There is no dispute as alleged.
- The situation within the area remains calm and stable.
