Monitoring Team of West of African Examination Council (WAEC) has uncovered massive irregularities in the ongoing WASSCE leading to the arrest of Christian IPS Proprietor and imprisonment of some Impersonators.
Addressing a news conference in Accra on Friday (September 5,2025), the Head of Public Affairs of WAEC Mr. John Kapi revealed that 2 persons who impersonated to write exams for students were arrested at Ghana College, Kasoa and handed over to the Police.
He said the two suspects were subsequently arraigned before court and jailed for six months each whilst their accomplices was Sentenced to eight months imprisonment.
“The Proprietor of Chrisrian IPS, Kukurantumi as well as one of his invigilators have been arrested for creating a WhatsApp group on which they shared snapshots of questions and solutions to the questions.
They have been handed over to the Police for further investigations”, Mr. Kapi revealed.
The Head of WAEC Public Affairs also disclosed that a number of persons involved in the irregularities have been arrested and handed over to the Police including Ebenezer Fynn at St. Vincent College, Abora Dunkwa, Hanna Lariba at Steps to Destiny SHS, Yeji, Mr. Kodua Desmond at Abot College, Asante Bekwai.
“He has been remanded into Police Custody for two weeks”, he added.
Others are Osei Assibey Daniel at Atwima Kwanwoma Presby SHS, Maxwell Chamba and Amaglo Livingstone who were arrested at Sefa Bonsu Royal SHS at Yeji.
According to Mr. Kapi, a physics teacher at Ahafoman SHS was found with a mobile phone on which he had snapshots of the physics practical questions which he had shared.
He added Mr. Ernest Frimpong an Invigilator was also arrested at King James SHTS for possession of a mobile phone on which was found snapshots of the questions and solutions to them.
He is therefore cautioning students, Proprietors and Invigilators to desist from the criminal acts since WAEC is now determined to ensure their prosecution.
Meanwhile, results of the BECE for Private Candidates will ne released by close of Friday September 5, 2025.
