The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, has called on pastors, leaders and members of the church to intensify their efforts towards the successful hosting of the 10th Triennial Congress of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship in Ghana.

Rev. Wengam made the call on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the Cedar Mountain Chapel in Accra, where he officially launched the World Congress at the local church level.

The global congress, scheduled for October 14 to 16, 2026, will bring together about 10,000 pastors, ministers and church leaders from Assemblies of God churches across the world.

Historical

Ghana is hosting the congress for the first time, in the 110-year history of the Assemblies of God Fellowship, with the main activities expected to take place at the Independence Square and the Accra Sports Stadium.

Rev. Wengam explained that participation in the daytime sessions at the Independence Square would attract a minimal fee of GH¢100, while the evening revival rallies at the Accra Sports Stadium would be free of charge.

He, however, stressed that the spiritual value of the revival rallies could not be measured in monetary terms.

“We cannot simply quantify the value of the spiritual exercise at the stadium. It is inestimable, to say the least,” he said.

Flashback, theme

He recalled that on November 14, 2025, the Global Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, Rev. Dominic Yeo, officially launched the 10th Triennial Congress at the Lancaster Hotel in Accra.

The congress is being held under the theme “Commissioned: One Mandate, Every Nation,” based on Matthew 28:18–20.

Rev. Wengam further revealed that daytime activities at the Independence Square will include seminars, workshops and working sessions, while evening revival rallies will be held at the Accra Sports Stadium.

He urged members of Assemblies of God,Ghana to fill the Accra Sports Stadium during the revival rallies, describing their participation as an important demonstration of appreciation for the opportunity to host the global event.

“We as members of this great church in Ghana have a rare responsibility imposed by heaven to fill every available space at the Accra Sports Stadium,” he said.

Rev. Wengam also urged every pastor, deacon, deaconess, church leader and member to use the congress as an opportunity to positively project Assemblies of God,Ghana to the global community.

Rev. Wengam said the opportunity for Ghana to host the global Congress was a demonstration of God’s grace and an honour to Assemblies of God, Ghana.

He explained that the Congress was not only intended to glorify God but also to revitalise and strengthen Assemblies of God worldwide.

Spotlight

He said Ghana would be under the spotlight during the congress and therefore urged the church to showcase its best to delegates and visitors from around the world.

The General Superintendent further emphasised that the congress would go beyond its tourism, business, investment and global visibility benefits, describing it as an important platform for advancing the spiritual mission of Assemblies of God worldwide.

He said the event would provide an opportunity to strategise towards achieving the MM33 vision of planting one million churches by 2033, as part of efforts to commemorate 2,000 years since the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Rev. Wengam stressed that the vision could not be achieved by church leadership alone but would require renewed commitment and collaboration between leadership and the membership.

He also said Assemblies of God Ghana’s Transformational Agenda was already focused on planting more churches, building legacy temples and evangelising the nation, urging members to move the initiative “to the highest spiritual gear.”

Cedar Mountain Chapel

The launch at Cedar Mountain Chapel marks the beginning of local-level mobilisation for the global congress, with the church expected to take the message to congregations across Ghana.

Expressing appreciation to members of Cedar Mountain Chapel for their support throughout his pastoral and leadership journey, Rev. Wengam who is also the Head Pastor of the church called for their continued prayers and support towards the success of the congress.

Hedescribed Cedar Mountain Chapel as his “Jerusalem” and expressed confidence that the church would continue to grow, expand and attain greater spiritual heights.

He concluded by formally declaring the 10th Triennial Congress of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship launched at the local level.

“From today, pray Congress, dream Congress, think Congress, talk Congress and act Congress,” Rev. Wengam added.
