Mayor of Freetown, Hon. Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr Has appealed to Political Parties in Africa to invest chunk of their budgets in their women Politicians.
She said that is the only way a lot more women would keenly participate in politics in Africa.

Hon Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr was speaking at Day 2 of the African Political Parties Summit ongoing in Accra.
“To exclude the largest percentage of your population who are women simply makes no sense”, the Freetown Mayor stressed.
“Spend party budgets on women to take leadership positions”, she added.
She said Political will is needed in ensuring that women take centre stage in politics.
She therefore appealed to all Politicians in Africa to prioritize women in the formation of political parties and supporting them to be vibrant.
The African Political Parties Summit (APPS) which is the initiative of President Mahama is under auspices Africa Governance Centre.
