Ghc300million National Apprenticeship Program to take off on August 12-Opare Addo

Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo has disclosed that the National Apprenticeship Program which is one of government flagship programs will begin in August 12, 2025.

He explained that the program forms part of government’s commitment to tackle youth unemployment and equip young people with skills and opportunities for economic empowerment.

The Minister made the disclosure when he took his turn at the Government Accountability Series at Jubilee House on Monday (August 4, 2025).

“These initiatives reflect the vision of President John Dramani Mahama to create an environment where young people can thrive through entrepreneurship and technical training,” he stated.

Under the program, Mr. Opare Addo also revealed that beneficiaries will receive monthly stipend to support them whilst under-taking the program.

He said the program is the largest apprenticeship drive in the country’s history creating the opportunities for the youth.

Touching on the Adwumawura program which is also a flagship program, the Minister revealed that government has allocated ghc110million for the program stressing that the goal is to create a new generation of young job creators in the country.

“These programs will not only reduce unemployment but also create sustainable opportunities for our youth”, Mr. Opare Addo emphasized.

The Minister who touched on all the sectors of his ministry asserted that he would ensure President Mahama’s reset agenda is achieved through the initiatives of the Ministry.
