President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated the Goldbod Taskforce aimed at fighting against illegal trading of gold.
Speaking at the inauguration held at the National Security Head office, Accra on Tuesday, the President admonished the Taskforce to eschew Compromises and Abuse of their mandate and work assiduously towards the purpose for which it was established.

He stressed that Golbod was a flagship program in the NDC’s 2024 manifesto hence all initiatives needed to make the policy successful would be given a priority.
President Mahama explained that the formation of the task force is also to ensure that the Gold stays here for Ghanaians to benefit from our natural resources.
“We believe Ghanaians must be the first beneficiary of our natural resource. The time has come for Ghanaians to benefit from our mineral exploration”, the President emphasized.
He expressed worry over the fact that Ghana is Africa’s leading Producer of Gold and 6th on world yet for far too long “we failed to leverage on this potential”.
President Mahama therefore expressed his commitment to ensure that Ghana benefits from it’s Gold resources.
