Gender Minister Announces Nationwide Disbursement of 96th Cycle LEAP Grant

The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Honourable Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey has announced the commencement of the nationwide disbursement of the 96th Cycle LEAP cash grant to beneficiaries.

The move, according to the Minister demonstrates the committment of the president,H.E. John Dramani Mahama to reducing cost of living through right and appropriate decisions to stimulate economic growth.

Addressing the press earlier on Monday, June 30,2025, Honourable Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey reassures beneficiaries of the president’s resolve to enhancing what she termed, “real value of LEAP cash grant benefit and its impact on a range of development indicators including nutrition,health,schooling, investment amongstothers with the increase in LEAP cash grant against inflation.

She disclosed that the government had released a whooping GH139,257,363.97 which amount will be 350,000 LEAP beneficiaries in 260 metropolitan,municipal,and district assemblies.

The Minister noted, that the Ministry had commenced the implementation of the “indexation of the LEAP cash grant against inflation resulting in a gradual adjustment in policies tailored towards reducing shocks while ensuring the real value is not eroded.

The Ministry, according to the Minister has adjusted cash grant such that one eligible member-household now receives GHS320 from GHS256.00.

Two eligible member household receives GHS380.00 from GHS304.00.

Three eligible member-household now receives GHS440.00 as against the previous GHS352.00 while a four or more eligible member-household takes GHS530.00 against GHS424.00 for the previous year.

Also, the Minister has indicated an approval to increase the number of beneficiary households from the current 350,000 to 400,000 beneficiary households in subsequent disbursements.

The Minister indicated that each households on the programme receives base on the extremities of the poverty coupled with number of persons with vulnerability as orphans and children.
