Manprugu Youth Association, Binduri Chapter is appealing to government and the security agencies to halt attacks on their members in Binduri by the Kusasis.

Addressing a news conference in Accra on Tuesday (May 13, 2025), leader of the group, Mr. Alhassan Peter Adams revealed that the Mamprusis continue to be at the receiving end of the Kusasis with impunity adding that women and children are not even spared.

Mr. Adams who likened the ongoing violence in Binduri to the 1994 Rwandan genocide called on the government to intervene in order not to repeat that horrific history.

“Peace can not be negotiated while community is actively targeted and erased in silence”, the leader noted.

He stressed that failure of the government to uphold justice has emboldened the assailants.

“We posses video, audio, and text evidence of Kusasi youth inciting attacks and Celebratong the aftermath. The media must hear witness to these realities”, he added.

The group questioned a glaring bias of Bawku Central being put under strict security restrictions despite its relative calmness while Binduri, which is under active assault rather left vulnerable.

Mr. Adams therefore called on the Interior Minister reinstate and enforce the ban on motor riding in Binduri.

This , he said has created a loophole for Militants to Infiltrate and attack Mamprusi households.

“If this misguided approach continues, one can not help but conclude that government’s handling of the situation is both incompetent and politically compromised.

The group later urged the Otumfuo led mediation team to assess these developments carefully adding that “real peace must be rooted in justice not selective silence and sacrifice”.

They also called on the International Community including ECOWAS to intervene in order to stop the killings and resolve the conflict.

The Bawku conflict has been fueled by long-standing Chieftaincy disputes between the Mamprusis and Kusasis, causing the once bustling community to be turned into a deserted homestead.
