One thousand, one hundred and eighteen(1,118) Students have been admitted into the Nursing and Midwifery Training College (NMTC), Accra School of Hygiene, and Public Health Nursing School.

Speaking at the Matriculation ceremony held jointly by the 3 Health Training Institutions in Accra on Thursday, the Principal of NMTC, Madam Mercy Adzo Kporku who addressed the Matriculants on behalf of the Institutions, advised the students to take their lessons seriously and see themselves as the next golden generation of Nurses.

“Your presence here is not a personal achievement but a call to duty to serve humanity with knowledge and compassion”, Madam Kporku advised.

The Principal later emphasized the quest of the three health institutions to enhance health care training through technology.

“Across the world health sciences are being shaped through technology so we must not be left behind”, she said.

She added that these technological tools are only effective as the professional who work with them adding that institutions like theirs therefore have responsibility to equip the students whilst also integrating technology into teaching and learning.

According to her, their institutions have made progress in leveraging digital tool for a technology driven health care delivery.

Madam Kporku revealed that the ICT Lab being constructed as an e-learning hub for skills development is one of the many measures being put in place to leverage on technology.

She however expressed worry over lack of internet connectivity for online learning as well as power fluctuations which she said often disrupt teaching and learning.

The NMTC Principal, therefore called on the authorities and benevolent institutions to come support them in the area of IT infrastructure in order to enhance teaching and learning in the 3 health institutions.
