The Criminal Investigations Department ( CID) of the Ghana Police Service has flatly denied newspaper reports that Angela Attieh , formerly known as Angela List, has been arrested and granted bail.
Investigations at the Police Headquarters indicated that the CID had never discussed , considered nor triggered any action to arrest Angela Attieh, currently the CEO of Nguvu Mining Limited. The reports of her arrest are, therefore , totally false and misleading.
The Supreme Newspaper, which was one of newspapers which peddled the allegations, has apologized and retracted the story.
On 17th November, 2025, the National Media Commission ( NMC) issued its ruling on complaints filed by Adamus Resources Limited and directed the offending media outlets to retract their “ misleading and damaging publications “ and apologize to Angela Attieh and her company.
Meanwhile, Apatu- Plange and Co PRUC, lawyers for Angela Attieh, have described as outrightly false, irresponsible and a phantom of the publishers’ own imagination, reports that Angela Attieh was arrested and granted bail in connection with an alleged multi-million-dollar embezzlement at BCM International.
A statement signed by Lawyer Nii Apatu- Plange said, “For the avoidance of doubt, Angela List has never been arrested or detained in respect of any matter. At no time has she been treated as a criminal by any law enforcement agency. The assertion that she was arrested is a complete fabrication, deliberately crafted to cast her in a false and damaging light and to create unnecessary sensation.”
BCM International is jointly owned by Angela Attieh and her ex-husband Paul List.
Angela joined the company in 2001. At that time , the company was technically defunct or bankrupt and was on life support.
Senior executives had resigned and bolted, leaving a shell company struggling to survive.
Angela left her job at KPMG, a world renowned audit firm, on unpaid leave to manage BCM through its difficulties.
Angela worked for over four years without any salary at all. Her hard work, innovative management and business responsiveness grew the company from zero in 2001 to over $ 500 million
Since 2021, consequent to divorce proceedings, Angela took a backseat from actively running the company but maintained her joint ownership status.
“It is therefore preposterous and outrightly false to suggest that she has embezzled any funds from this company,” the statement added.
This allegation was previously raised in corporate litigation in court action against Angela List in the case entitled: BCM International vrs. Angela List , and was rightfully dismissed.
The statement said: “The recycling of a claim that has already been rejected through judicial process is irresponsible, a disservice to the public and an abuse of media platforms.
In her reaction, Angela Attieh urges the general public, business partners, and all well-meaning persons to disregard these publications in their entirety and treat them with the utmost contempt they deserve.
“They are nothing more than a recycling of discredited allegations designed to injure my reputation, and they do not reflect the true
facts,” the statement concluded.
