Former Minority Chief Whip Hon. Mohammed Muntaka Mabarak has dared the NPP saying Gyakye Quayson is going win the by election and keep the sear regardless of the outcome of court case.
Speaking on Top Stories on Joy FM on Tuesday, the MP for Asawase emphasized that even if Gyakye Quayson is jailed, he will still keep the seat insisting that there has been a precedent.
He argued further that when the former MP for Keta and Minister of Trade and Industry Hon. Dan Abodakpi was jailed for 10 years, the Party appealed the jail sentence whilst he maintained the seat until he was pardoned.
In the View of the outspoken MP, all what NPP is doing is much ado about nothing stressing that it won’t change the decision taken by the people of Assin North to vote massively for Gyakye Quayson to spite the faces of NPP government.
“They [NPP] can do their worse. Gyakye Quayson is going to keep the seat. Even Kwame Nkrumah won the seat when he was in prison”, he said.
Meanwhile, the criminal trial of Gyakye Quayson resumed today where his Lawyers led by Tsatsu Tsikata prayed the Court to adjourn proceedings to after the by-elections arguing that his clients is on a national assignment.
