Chaos at Ghana’s National Sports Authority (NSA) as the Board orders Director General, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, to revoke the appointment of 17 staff he employed without due process and clearance.
Following a retreat in Ada, Mr Ankrah was given a deadline of Feb 6 to revoke their appointments.
It was the second time the Board asked him to revoke the appointments because some of the roles do not exist in the organogram of the NSA and cannot be rectified. One such role is the Chief Operations Officer.
According to sources, Yaw is, however, reluctant or has refused to revoke the said appointments, and there’s a threat from the Board to lock their offices.
Claims are that some of these new employees have higher authority than the Deputy Director Generals.
Muftawu Nabila of Joy Sports reports tha some boys may be at the stadium later today to demonstrate against the directive from the Board to have the appointments revoked.
The defence being mounted for them is that, “they are party boys and girls.”
I have reached out to Yaw. When he reverts, this shall be updated if he says anything new.
