His statement comes in response to remarks made by current Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson during the presentation of the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on March 11, 2025

Dr. Forson announced the abolition of the betting tax and the Electronic Transactions Levy (E-Levy), asserting that these measures, which he attributed to the prior government, had failed to generate expected revenue and had worsened financial pressures on Ghanaians.

Dr. Forson emphasized that scrapping these levies was a vital step toward easing the cost of living and supporting economic recovery, a decision welcomed by football fans and bettors who had long complained that the betting tax diminished their winnings, often leaving them with little to no profit.

However, Amin Adam’s clarification challenges Forson’s narrative, insisting that the betting tax was never implemented under his tenure, casting doubt on the context of its reported abolition.
