We’ve had discussions with Goldbod and they have indicated their willingness to come on board”, the Ellembelle Member of Parliament Buah assured.

For his part, the Managing Director of GWCL, Mr. Adam Mutawakilu commended the President and the Lands Minister for their commitment in fighting the galamsey menace and ensuring the protection of water bodies.

He however expressed worry over resources to desilt the Intakes of their treatment plants.

“How do we get rid of the silt at the Intakes so that the water that comes can settle down for us to pump the water for treatment?”, the GWCL MD emphasized.

He explained further that given the heavy silt at the Intakes, the reservoir is likely to dry during the dry season.

“And if it dries up a lot of people will run out of water”, he alarmed.

Mr. Mutawakilu therefore appealed to the Lands Minister to expedite action on the financial and logistical support whilst also commending him for his efforts thus far.
