The Attorney General, Hon. Dominic Ayine has revealed that NPP Ashanti regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako and Founder and Leader Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) Kofi Akpaloo will soon face prosecution for various criminal offences.
The criminal Offences according to the Atrorney General include defrauding by false pretence, money laundering and stealing.
Hon. Ayine made the disclosure at the Government Accountability Series on Monday.
Touching on Percival Akpaloo’s case, he said the leader of LPG forged one Akua Pomaa’s signature to secure a COCOBO cheque of gh 3.1million.
“When Investigators contacted Akua pomaa, she alleged that Akpaloo forged her signature without her consent”, the Atrorney General stressed.
He explained further that Akpaloo, knowing about Pomaa Univeral Ghana Limited, also registered a company called Pomaah with an h at the end of the pomaa to deceive COCOBOD authorities.
The Attorney General who revealed that the LPG founder committed the crime with his wife Delphine Akpaloo stressed that both will be prosecuted and charged after the Christmas break with Stealing forgery and money laundering.
Touching on Wontumi’s case, Dr. Ayjne revealed that in similar fashion deceived Eximbank with forged receipt to secured over gh24million ostendibly to purchase farm equipment for mining and alternative livelihood program.
“Wontumi received an invoice from Kasama Ventired but wontumi removed invoice and replaced it with receipt and he submitted it to Eximbank”, the Attorney General emphasized.
He said the company, Wontumi Farms Ltd that Antwi Boasiako used did not exist at the time of application for the loan adding that Wontumi after securing the loan with the forged documents did not purchase the foam equipments as per the condition for the loan.
Eximbank has confirmed that Chairman wontumi submitted no documents apart from the forged receipt meaning it was a grand scheme to defraud exim bank”, he sai maintained.
He said Chairman Wontumi will be charged for stealing and defrauding by false pretence.
