On Friday 6th February 2026, this man, Hon Dr Obed Yao Asamoah turned 90.
One of the principal architects of the political party called the National Democratic Congress.

It is said that at the meeting at Blue Gate, our late former First Lady, Her Excellency Mrs Konadu Agyemang Rawlings suggested the name, National Democratic Party as the name but Hon Dr Obed Asamoah, former Speaker DF Annan and Captain Kojo Tsikata proposed, National Democratic Congress.
It was thus agreed that the name for the new political grouping should be the National Democratic Congress(NDC).

The original document showing the foundational members who gave their signatures on the documents to the Electoral Commission then, only Hon Dr Obed Yao Asamoah has that document.

He has given the party the opportunity to run a photocopy of that document.
He is the brain box behind the formation with many great minds.

Since 1992, he is the only person to have maintained the two positions of Foreign Affairs Minister and at the same time, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice.
Happiest 90th birthday to such a great leader and mind.

As young people in the party today, we do recognize the foundational works done by he and others to make the party the most successful and attractive today.
Development is our GOAL.
Cadres may go.
Cadres may come.
The Revolution has come to stay.
