The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has presented a consignment of medical equipment worth 15million GHS to the Ga North Municipal Hospital, stressing on government’s commitment to strengthening existing health facilities.
He explained that the gesture followed a surprise visit where it was discovered that the hospital was operating without some critical resources.

The items, numbering over thirty, include key resources such as anesthesia machines, incubators,Nebulizer, ECG machines, Stem Sterilizer, Stethoscopes, Hospital beds, Delivery set, Ward screen among others.
Hon. Akandoh emphasized that these represent a capital investment and urged hospital authorities to ensure proper maintenance and effective use of the equipment for the benefit of patients.

He further noted that healthcare delivery depends on infrastructure, personnel, and equipment, noting that it is unwise to allow existing facilities to deteriorate while focusing only on new construction.
The Medical Superintendent of the Ga North Municipal Hospital, Dr. Victor Caesar, expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the hospital and noted the joy and relief of staff upon receiving the items, especially the anesthesia machines, which had been urgently needed for years.

Dr. Caesar assured the Minister that the equipment will be well maintained, as the facility has a strong culture of preserving and maximizing the use of medical resources.
