The Minister made the disclosure during the Government Accountability Series at the Jubilee House on Wednesday .

“The good news for the good people of Ghana is that we have a 4 weeks plan to get us out of this mess. The plan is in the next one week we are going to begin with teaching hospitals, regional hospitals and the highly populated district hospitals to roll them over to the GHIMS

The second week we will be looking at the rest of the hospitals, in the 3rd week we will be looking at the Polyclinics, CHPS Compound and the 4th week we will be looking at mop ups”, Hon Akandoh emphasized.

Highlighting the cause of the disruptions the Minister disclosed that the supplier, whose contract expired in December 2024, was awarded 100 million sollar contract for the Light Waves Health Information Management System (LHIMS).

He added that the supplier was supposed to connect 950 health facilities but only connected 400 facilities yet was paid 77million dollars.

The Juaboso Member of Parliament also revealed that a forensic audit of the contract showed gaps in the hardware and supply of sub-standard equipment by the supplier

The Minister however indicated that the issue has been referred to the Attorney General for action.

The Minister described the current disruptions at the Health Centres as blackmail as the Supplier deliberately shuts down the system as and when he desires.

Hon. Akandoh was however optimistic that the new system being rolled out by the Ministry would offer value for money far lower than the amount received by the previous supplier.

“ The only difference is that the software is for the state and we control the data and everything”, the Minister stressed.
