“The current administration will reactivate all regional public relations officers to interact and meet with citizens and our media partners”, COP Yohuno revealed.

He underscored the importance of policing saying policing is not a mere crime prevention but being accountable to the people.

The IGP later charged the officers to adhere to the highest professional standards and integrity in disseminating information to the public and the media stressing that the media is a key ally of the Police in information dissemination.

He also charged the Police PROs to be conscious of misinformation and disinformation and adopt strategies to counter them, whilst also ensuring responsibility in maintaining law and order.

“There is no greater fulfilment than serving your country with dedication and integrity”, IGP emphasized.

Earlier, the Director of Police Public Affairs, ACP, Grace Ansah-Akrofi, in a welcome address, noted that effective communication is not merely desirable but essential as it serves as primary bridge between law enforcers and the community they serve.

She added that effective communication helps to build trust and counter misinformation.

ACP Ansah- Akrofi later commended the IGP for the workshop, emphasizing the importance of it and how it would help shape their communication.

“We excited because we are the first group to have the honor to be addressed by the new IGP.
We are the first to benefit from a training in the Police service. We are most grateful”, she said.
