Health Minister Appeals to Corporate Ghana to Donate to MahamaCare As Telecel Donates Cancer Equipment

Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Montah Akandoh has appealed to Corporate Ghana to donate to Mahama Care.

He said health is an essential human need hence the need for Corporate Ghana to donate to support Patients in need.

The Minister made the appeal when Telecel Ghana, Alive Industries, KMI Energy and East Cantonment Pharmacy donated to the MahamaCare at a short ceremony held on Thursday in Accra.

The Juaboso MP explained that the patients suffering from NCDs are workers in the corporate world adding that their health is essential for productivity, hence the donation to the Mahama Care must be a necessity.

“These people affected by NCDs are your workers and friends. There is a direct relationship between productivity and health.
I’m excited that you have shown the commitment”, Hon. Akandoh emphasized.

He assured all the donors of using the donation for the benefit of Patients.

“I can assure you that we will make sure that what ever will be captured will be implemented to the latter”, he added.

According to him, Mahama Care is not going to care for only complicated cancers but will focus on cancer detection and prevention.

He later expressed his appreciation to all the donors particularly Telecel which is, aside the donation of the equipment, operational expenses of the three medical centres for a period of two years.

Hon. Akandoh also announced the *255# as the short code and urged all and sundry to support the worthy cause.

On his part, the Group CEO of Telecel Mr. Mohammed Damush said Telecel is committed to the health care of Ghana particularly cancer diagnosis.

He revealed that the Company is partnering with the sector Ministry to equip 3 diagnosis centers that specializes in cervical cancer treatment.

He said this will impact positively on Ghanaians and health care Centre generally in Ghana adding that about 10,000 women would be impacted by the gesture.

At the ceremony CEO of Alive Industries, Mr. Seidu Agongo redeemed his pledge gh500,000.00 whilst KMI Energy and East Cantonment Pharmacy 5000 donated gh5,000.00 each.
