Journalists in the Greater Accra region have endorsed Charles Yao Mawusi, who is the front runner in the impending GJA elections.
His campaign to media houses in Accra on Tuesday was characterized with wild excitement by rank file of Journalists who believe Charles Mawusi [owing to his international media credentials] is coming in to salvage the GJA from the Claws of corruption, misappropriation of funds and self aggrandizement.

“We will vote for him”, “he has my vote” are comments from Journalists who met him today, an indication that Charles Mawusi’s message is sinking down with Journalists.
Charles Mawusi is promising Welfare, Media fund and Insurance for Journalists.
He is also promising to print ID Cards for all members of GJA as well as Training Journalists on investigative Journalism, which he said is a big deal in the advanced countries.

He proposes to also strengthen the Secretariat and bring back life to Press centre by rejuvenating the Canteen at the Press Centre.
“Many are surprised that I’m contesting. My interest is not to take money from GJA but to give back to the Association
I want to leave the GJA cleaner than I am today”, Mr. Mawusi emphasized.

Charles Mawusi’s campaign took him to GBC, Multimedia and GNA where his message received rapturous applause.
The GJA Elections is slated for June 30, 2025 to elect new executives to steer the affairs of the Association but there are pockets of murmur amongst Journalists over the expunging of their names from the register.
