Ministry of Gender and Social Protection has unveiled a Day Care Centre to support Mothers working within the Gender Ministry.
The Care Giving centre which is located within the Gender Ministry would cater for children between the ages of 0-3 years where the kids would receive 6 months exclusive breast feeding whilst their mothers work with peace of mind.

Speaking at a ceremony to unveil the Centre in Accra on Friday, Minister for Gender and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey stressed that the centre forms part of the Ministry’s resolve to support working Mothers adding that it also represents the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to the development of children.
“Mothers are faced with challenges of balancing their career with child care responsibilities”, the Minister emphasized, underscoring the critical role the Ministry plays to Safeguard the rights and welfare of vulnerable groups including children.

Inside of the Day Care Centre
According to her the Centre which Signifies governments commitment to increase attention to child care would train the children on early child cognitive development.

The Krowor Member of Parliament therefore encouraged women in the Ministry to produce more children since the children would be catered for by the Centre.
She later expressed appreciation to the Partners particularly Child Rights International for their support in making the dream of the day care centre a reality.

On her part, the Chief Director of the Ministry Dr. Afisah Zakariah touched on the need for Staff to leverage on the Day care centre to enable them contribute meaningfully towards the development of the country.

“This facility stands as a statement to our commitment to prioritize the safety of our workers”, she said.
