Founder of the Progressive Alliance Ghana(PAG), Mr. John Kpikpi has expressed disgust at the Bavari DV Ghana Lithium deal, describing it as a rip off.

Addressing a news conference in Accra on Monday (November 24, 2025), Mr. Kpikpi explained that the deal, in it’s current state of 87% for Bavari DV and 13% for the state makes nonsense of Ghana’s Sovereignty.

He said Ghana for that matter Ghanaians must become owners of the riches and wealth from our mineral resources.

“We are tired of this constant over exploitation of our resource by foreigners with the collusion of all our successive governments of the 4th republic which still leaves out country in poverty”, the PAG founder fumed.

“NPP wanted us[Ghana] to have 15% and Bavari 85%. NDC wants us to have 13% and Bavari 87%. Both are unacceptable today in our nation”, he added.

Mr. kpikpi who explained that the end product of Lithium is batteries stressed that Ghana’s share should rather be 85% percent with 15% for Bavari DV.

He said this is the only way Ghana can be said to be leveraging on its natural resources for developments.

“in principle, Ghana can partner with investors but Ghana must have majority shares in any such ventures so that the bulk of the profits made from the company stays in Ghana for the benefit of all Ghanaians”, Mr. Kpikpi emphasized.
