Staff of EC Petitions President Mahama to Remove Jean Mensa, Deputies
A staff member of the Electoral Commission (EC), Joseph Blankson Adumadzie, has formally petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to initiate the removal of the Chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa, and her two deputies, Dr Bossman Eric Asare and Samuel Tettey.
Mr. Blankson Adumadzie, cited alleged misconduct that he says threatens the credibility of Ghana’s electoral system.
While declining to disclose the full contents of the petition as required by law, the EC staff member revealed that it contains 12 specific counts of alleged misbehaviour, including cronyism, abuse of office, and gross incompetence.
Many have taken to social media expressing contentment over the petition saying its long over due.
It is not clear whether President Mahama will act on it but our sources at the Jubilee House indicate that “the President will act in conformity with the law”.
