The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has called on the management of the Achimota Municipal Hospital to urgently address the prolonged waiting times patients face when seeking medical care.
The Minister’s directive followed a visit to the facility on Friday, August 1, 2025, during which several patients voiced frustrations over delays in accessing medical attention.Buy vitamins and supplements
While interacting with patients in the queue, many complained about having waited for hours without being attended to.

“I got here as early as 5 a.m., but I have still not been attended to because the doctor I was assigned to was absent,” one patient said.
Another patient criticised the conduct of some hospital staff, accusing them of deliberately delaying consultations.
“They are always on their phones, but when you complain, they get offended,” the patient alleged.
Minister Akandoh expressed concern over the situation and assured patients that corrective measures would be taken. He also noted with displeasure the absence of key hospital officials, including the Medical Superintendent and Administrator, during his unannounced visit
You can be alternating. If the head is not there, then the assistant should be there. Someone should be at post. If the key personnel are not around, then who is in control? You don’t do that,” he stated.
