He said issues of corruption and dishonesty can be a thing of the past if the coming generation is introduced into foundational learning and values of the country.

Hon. Iddrisu made the statement when he Inaugurated the Boards for NaCCA and National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA) in Accra on Thursday.

“The best way is for the coming generation to have integrity and we can achieve that when we train them early enough”, Hon. Iddrisu.

The Tamale Central Member of Parliament later called for Standard based curriculum for basic schools whilst ensuring quality assurance in our tertiary education in Ghana.

Touching on NaSIA, the Minister expressed worry over lack of proper inspections and monitoring which he said has led to students deviance.

He said school inspections, Licensing and monitoring are pre-requisite to addressing discipline in schools.

He emphasized that issues of phone cheating during exams and examiners aiding students during exams have become the norm adding however that strict enforcement of the laws would help nip the practice in the bud.

He therefore called on NaSIA to intensify their monitoring and inspections to curtail the practice.

Hon. Iddrisu, later extended President Mahama’s congratulations to members of the boards and urged them to work in realizing the President’s vision.

Chairman of NaCCA, Prof. Vincent Assanful

On their part, the Chairman for the NaSIA and NaCCA Boards respectively Dr. Jacob Kor and Prof. Vincent Assanful expressed their commitment to work to promote quality education.
