Chief Executive of Alive Industries, operators of Sage Medical Centre, Alhaji Seidu Agongo has redeemed his five hundred thousand Ghana cedis he pledged towards the Mahamacare.

At a short ceremony in Accra on Thursday, Mr. Agongo presented a dummy cheque of the said amount to the Health Minister, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and assured the Minister of his continuous support to the Mahamacare.

He explained that hid donation has been motivated by the financial burdens of Patients suffering from Non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

He said, as an operator of a diagnostic centre, he can relate to the plight of patients adding that a Cancer Patient spends not less than $800 a year.

“I run a diagnostic centre and I know what patients go through”, Mr.Agongo stressed.

The Group Chairman of media Conglomerate, the Class media later commended President Mahama for the initiative and appealed to colleague business men to emulate the gesture.

“As Ghanaians let us unite around this wonderful cause”, he said.

On his part, Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Montah Akandoh commended him for redeeming his pledge and appealed to Corporate Ghana to donate to Mahama Care.

He said health is an essential human need hence the need for Corporate Ghana to donate to support Patients in need.

The Juaboso MP explained that the patients suffering from NCDs are workers in the corporate world adding that their health is essential for productivity, hence the donating to the Mahama Care must be a necessity.

“These people affected by NCDs are your workers and friends. There is a direct relationship between productivity and health.
I’m excited that you have shown the commitment”, Hon. Akandoh emphasized.

He assured all the donors of using the donation for the benefit of Patients.

“I can assure you that we will make sure that what ever will be captured will be implemented to the latter”, he added.

According to him, Mahama Care is not going to care for only complicated cancers but will focus on cancer detection and prevention.

Hon. Akandoh later announced *255# as the short code and urged all and sundry to support the worthy cause.
