He stated that since then the country’s Covid-19 vaccine landscape has improved significantly, topping some 34 million doses as at end of November this year, with COVAX being the dominant source of vaccines, accounting for about 71% whilst AVATT/AU/WBs’ accounted for some 16% and Bilateral Relations contributed 13% respectively.

The Director-General further urged the media to use their medium to emphasize the need to get vaccinated now, especially as we approach the festive season. He added that. vaccination remains the most effective way to protect oneself against COVID-19 disease.

In an address read on behalf of the Country Representative of the World Health Organization, Dr Elizabeth Juma, the cluster Head for Universal Health Coverage-Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases stated that, significant progress has been made in three of the four strategic goals laid out in the global COVID-19 vaccination strategy. She indicated that the impact of COVID-19 on the health system has been captained and the path to social economic activities has not yet been fully achieved to pre-Covid days, the positive trajectory, however, is large as a result of vaccination and we, therefore need to get vaccinated to curb transmission.

Anne Claire-Duffey, the country representative for UNICEF, commended the Ghana Health Service for ensuring that Ghana was the first country in the world to receive the Covid-19 vaccines in February 2020 through the COVAX vicinity.
She urged the public to get vaccinated as the festive season is approaching since the best Christmas gift you can give to your relatives and friends is to convince them to get vaccinated.
