Nungua Dzaasetse, Nii Botwe Laryea has affirmed the authority of the Nungua Stool in support of Nungua Youth to do anything within the law to protect the Nmai Djor Lands from Trassaco and Okpelor Sowa Din Family of Teshie who are claiming ownership of the vast land.
It would be recalled that the the Nungua stool addressed a press conference on Tuesday January 13, 2026 following a shooting incident on January 10, 2026, allegedly orchestrated by Trassaco and Okpelor Sowa Din Family of Teshie which endangered lives within the catchment area.

In that press conference, the Nkpor Mantse of Nungua, Nii Borteyfio Borteykwei Afadi Nsuro, speaking on behalf of the Nungua Stool, warned that the traditional authority would not hesitate to pursue “the full rigours of the law,” including criminal prosecution for fraud and contempt of court, to protect its lands.
The Nungua Stool maintains that the land mark ruling by the Supreme Court [SUPREME COURT JUDGMENT: EMPIRE BUILDERS LTD VS. TOPKINS ENTERPRISES LTD & OTHERS (2020) Case: Civil Appeal No. 14/10/2019, Judgment delivered on 16th December 2020] was to the effect that the land in dispute belongs to the Nungua Stool and not to any Teshie family.
“The Court upheld the findings of the lower courts that the Nungua Stool is the allodial owner.
Absent at the Press conference however was the Nungua Mantse Odehekpakpa Odaifio Welentsi II and the Nungua Dzaasetse, Nii Botwe Laryea, a situation many felt undermines the legitimacy of the Press conference.
But Nii Botwe Laryea, speaking in an exclusive interview with our Editor, said their absence at the Press conference does not make the press conference illegitimate, stressing that they authorized the press conference and are in Full support of it.
“I must state that it is the Nungua Stool which includes myself and the Nungua Mantse that organized the press conference and we stand by our position to use any legal means to protect the Nunbua lands for Nungua people.
The Nungua Stool is therefore cautioning Trasacco, Okpelor Family of Teshie and their Assigns to desist from the unlawful activities on the land as any such move would be resisted by the Stool’, Nii Botwe Laryea fumed.
