Mid-Year Budget: Government Should Reduce Taxes: Businessmen

Businessmen who thronged Parliament to listen to the Finance Minister read the mid-year budget have expressed worry over so many taxes on goods and services.

They are therefore calling on government to reduce the taxes since it is shrinking their capital.

They made their displeasure at the premises of Parliament on Monday when they took turns to speak to senaradioonline.com after the reading of the mid-year budget.

“The taxes are too much, we business men suffer the most because of this tax. It is shrinking our capital”, Kofi Nimoh, a businessman said.

“We may have to stop our business and come and sit at home. And all of us will suffer because jobs will be lost and there will be pressure on government. This tax issue must be looked at critically”, another businessman said.

Meanwhile, the Finance Minister Mr. Ken Ofori Atta who said the economy is showing signs of recovery said the input of GUTA will be considered in the main budget but GUTA President Dr. Joseph Obeng said “the taxes is eroding our gains”.
