Kingmakers in Sampa Traditional Area are fuming at the Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboah, for taking sides in the Sampa chieftaincy crisis, thereby creating tension in the area.
Addressing a Press Conference in Accra, the Nananom of Sampa Traditional Area led by Nana Sie-Djo Patazin II who is the Gyamerahene and Landlord explained that the Bono Regional Minister Joseph Addae Akwaboah had in the past been the legal counsel of the illegitimate Sammor Duah Family hence is bent on using his powers to protect the Sammor Duah Family despite the gazette of Nana Samgba Gyaflaa II who is from the Afia Takyiwaa Family.

According to the nananom after a long exhaustive process of chieftaincy heirship, including the involvement and mediation by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Afia Takyiwaa Family was granted the right to nominate a chief in the person of Nana Samgba Gyaflaa II, who was accepted and subsequently gazetted under the laws of Ghana.
He explained further that despite the gazetting of the chief the Regional Minister, the DCE whom they said is an indigene of Suma Ahenkro have through their actions and inactions created conditions that condone illegality.
“Recently, despite lacking lawful authority, the same Sammor faction announced their intention to conduct funeral rites for the late paramount Chief and Queen mother.

“The Ghana Police Service , recognising the volatility the situation, sought and obtained a court injunction to prevent further escalation but that injunction was ignored by the Sammor Duah Family.
“And with the involvement of DISEC, the prohibited rites were carried out. When court orders are treated as mere options, what message is sent to the ordinary citizen? When those entrusted with leadership disregard the judiciary what confidence remains in the rule of law”, Nana Sie-Djo Patazin II fumed.
He said the situation is worsening as attempts are being made to sell Sampa lands despite a standing court injunction adding that they will resist any such attempt as Sampa lands represents their identity.
Nananom are therefore appealing to President Mahama to call the regional Minister and the DCE to order since they are fomenting troubles in the name of peace keeping and creating disaffection for the Party in the area.

“We listened carefully when the President stated in relation to Bawku, that government works only with gazetted chiefs. That statement gave us hope.
We respectfully and passionately ask:let that principle live in Sampa as well. The law must not bend depending on geography or influence. It must stand firm everywhere?, Nana Sie-Djo Patazin II stressed.
They commended the gazetted chief Nana Gyaflaa II, who is an appeals court judge for his restraint and exercise of patience warning that should the illegalities, continue, nananom should not be blamed for any action by the youth of Sampa.
