He said Government’s efforts at the fight has led to the arrest of 518 illegal miners also known as galamsey with the seizure of 246 excavators.

Hon. Kwakye who was speaking on TV3’s Key points stressed that the Mahama led administration has done more to show commitment to the fight against galamsey than the NPP did whilst in government.

He added that whilst the NPP government galamsey to fester with the illegal miners acting with impunity, the NDC Government has taken decisive steps to curtail the menace by forming taskforces to clampdown on Illegal miners.

“Unlike the NPP government, we have shown commitment in the fight against galamsey so far.

So far about 518 illegal miners have been arrested and about 246 excavators have been seized, this tells you this government is committed to the fight”, the MP for Abura, Sunkwa Kwamankese emphasized.
